What is a Hideez Key?

A Hideez Key is a small Bluetooth device that allows you to securely store your credentials and keep them physically separate from your computer.  A Hideez Key also allows you to lock and unlock your computer automatically, based on your proximity and the strength of the Bluetooth signal between your computer and your Hideez Key.

Features of a Hideez Key

Hideez Keys offer several security features that allow you to:

  • Store your credentials securely.

  • Automatically log in to most websites and mobile applications.

  • Unlock your computer by proximity.

  • Lock your computer by simply walking away.

  • Generate one-time passwords for two-factor-authentication.

RapidIdentity and Hideez Keys

RapidIdentity Client supports configuring and using a Hideez Key for proximity-based authentication.  Currently, RapidIdentity does not support Hideez Keys in stand-alone mode.  Support must be configured in RapidIdentity Server.

RapidIdentity also does not support built-in Bluetooth adapters at this time.  In order to use Hideez Keys with RapidIdentity, you must have a Bluetooth dongle plugged into your computer to connect.  RapidIdenity supports the following two USB dongles:

  • Hideez Bluetooth 4.0 USB Dongle

  • Whitelabel Bluetooth 4.0 USB Dongle
